LAUGHING ABOUT NOTHING is a Portland, Oregon–based punk / power pop band built around sharp, melody-driven songwriting and dynamic, high-energy live shows.
Formed by Andy (guitar) and Margaret (vocals) after a chance meeting in Spain in 2021, the project took full shape following their move to Portland in 2024, with Colby (bass) and Cole (drums) joining the lineup. Since then, the four-piece has become part of Portland's independent music community, drawing from the city's rich punk, pop, and rock scene while developing a sound that blends classic power pop hooks with the raw edge of punk, alt-rock, and grunge.
In April 2026, Laughing About Nothing released their debut full-length album, TIDES. Written between Spain and Portland, the record explores human connection, contradiction, and the ebb and flow of our inner and outer landscapes through driving guitars, melodic hooks, and atmospheric textures.
2026 has brought some of the band's biggest opportunities to date. Laughing About Nothing joined the Portland stop of the Summer School Tour, sharing the stage with nationally touring acts including Honey Revenge, South Arcade, Winona Fighter, and Chase Petra. They also performed at the PDX Pop Now! Festival, Shady Pines Festival, and Punk Palouse Festival in Moscow, Idaho, and shared bills with touring acts including WAAX and Stereosity.
The band has been featured and reviewed by Stumptown Static and featured on Portland radio through Radio Hot Tub, Portland Radio Project, and KBOO Community Radio. Laughing About Nothing is currently recording a second full-length album for 2027, pushing further into a punkier, heavier, and more guitar-driven sound.

TIDES
Nine tracks of distorted guitars, bright melodies, and emotional undertow. Songs about love and friction, closeness and distance, and learning when to swim with the tide and when to fight it.
Written under the Mediterranean sun and Portland rain. Recorded in two basement sessions at Trainspotter Studios,just off the tracks in Northeast Portland.
